Kola Boof set to wed Pilot/Businessman Jason Appelbaum

At first I wasn't sure it was real, but it seems it's true. Kola Boof is indeed getting married. The bestselling author will wed air force pilot and businessman Jason Appelbaum in November this year. Kola and Jason have known each other for over 12 years and recently got engaged

Kola writes about Jason:
I’ve always loved Jason as a friend. We were boyfriend and girlfriend in the past. We have a lot of chemistry and deep attraction for each other. We are very happy right now and we love each other very much.
You know I’m not one to sugar coat, so I will admit that it’s been very rough since we decided to tell our families the last week. Jason is Jewish and his family is mostly upset about my Bin Laden connection and my past. They see me as loose and dangerous (which tickles Jason). They are not too happy about our Union but Jason told me that’s why they live in NY and he lives in California.
On my end, because I’m a public figure, there have been vehement protests from my Black American mother, ex-lovers and especially fans and industry people who feel that it’s hypocritical for a so-called “Afrocentric” like Kola Boof to marry a White man.

I would like to address that now.
I am not an “Afrocentric”…I am an Americanized writer, adopted from Omdurman, Sudan by Black Americans who is extremely proud of her Nilotic-Oromo heritage. Like most Blacks in  America, I have been conflicted my whole life by race issues and identity.

I have never been against marrying a White man, I have been several White men in the past…but I will admit that my preference (all my life) has been for Black men. It was always Black men who had the best chance with me.

However, for those who absolutely can’t understand why “Kola Boof” would marry a White man, I would like to share with Americans my true feelings….I live in America…I don’t feel loved by Black American men as a group…I feel betrayed by Black men…I don’t trust Black men.
Even though they are my preference (my first husband was Black)…I don’t think I could marry a Black man now at age 44 after everything I’ve witnessed as an American.
I already have two sons by my first husband who was Black. Jason Appelbaum has one teenaged son who is fully White. We have decided not to have children.

But if life steps in and we do end up having a child, I would like it understood that our child will be considered “Biracial” and not Black. It’s very important to me that African-Americans understand that about me as an African woman.

I have already been accused of “breeding out of the race” and  therefore a hypocrite my detractors for engaging a White man.  The fact is, we don’t plan to have children.

Lastly, please do not harass me. I am happy with Jason  Appelbaum and I don’t care, and will not under any circumstances consider what the public thinks or feels in this  matter. I am marrying Jason for several reasons–as Africans do not merely marry for love. He is the right choice and the wonderful King for me. He treats me how I deserve to be treated, he loves my cooking and he is a great conversationalist. He makes me feel safe and he cares about my feelings and  about my children. My sons adore him.

I didn’t expect to be getting married again–Jason insisted. But I now feel so young again!
I wish everyone love and their favorite things!

"I have 8 to 10 weeks left to get the transplant done" OJB Jezreel says

OJB Jezreel gave an interview to Encomium magazine yesterday Monday June 24th where he said he has about eight weeks left to get his operation done. Excerpts...
"When early diagnosis was done, it was just a case of renal failure. Right now, my two kidneys are gone. We are running dialysis at the moment. It started two years ago, but gradually depreciated. Most people tend to attribute kidney problem to drinking and smoking. I was told it doesn't have anything to do with that, because as much as I drink and smoke then, it was casual drinking. Maybe they offer you a bottle of drink and all that but not like I drink 15 bottles a day. I have a friend who has gone through this and he never drank or smoked.
"The whole process of the treatment from pre-process, transplanting process and post-transplanting will cost about $100, 000. In two years I have spent up to N5million which I have been trying to maintain myself. That is why it has been kept secret."
"God willing, I have like eight to ten weeks more to get the transplant done. It's strange, I still walk around a little. I can't eat much though. I trust God and Nigerians for their financial support"

Pope Benedict XVI Resignation Letter | First Pope To Resign In 600 Years

Dear Brothers,
I have convoked you to this Consistory, not only for the three canonizations, but also to communicate to you a decision of great importance for the life of the Church. After having repeatedly examined my conscience before God, I have come to the certainty that my strengths, due to an advanced age, are no longer suited to an adequate exercise of the Petrine ministry.  I am well aware that this ministry, due to its essential spiritual nature, must be carried out not only with words and deeds, but no less with prayer and suffering. However, in today’s world, subject to so many rapid changes and shaken by questions of deep relevance for the life of faith, in order to govern the barque of Saint Peter and proclaim the Gospel, both strength of mind and body are necessary, strength which in the last few months, has deteriorated in me to the extent that I have had to recognize my incapacity to adequately fulfill the ministry entrusted to me. For this reason, and well aware of the seriousness of this act, with full freedom I declare that I renounce the ministry of Bishop of Rome, Successor of Saint Peter, entrusted to me by the Cardinals on 19 April 2005, in such a way, that as from 28 February 2013, at 20:00 hours, the See of Rome, the See of Saint Peter, will be vacant and a Conclave to elect the new Supreme Pontiff will have to be convoked by those whose competence it is.
Dear Brothers, I thank you most sincerely for all the love and work with which you have supported me in my ministry and I ask pardon for all my defects.  And now, let us entrust the Holy Church to the care of Our Supreme Pastor, Our Lord Jesus Christ, and implore his holy Mother Mary, so that she may assist the Cardinal Fathers with her maternal solicitude, in electing a new Supreme Pontiff. With regard to myself, I wish to also devotedly serve the Holy Church of God in the future through a life dedicated to prayer.

Super Eagles Coach Stephen Keshi Mull Over Resignation

Following the triumphant victory of the Super Eagles at the AFCON 2013, coach Stephen Keshi announced his resignation the next day with an outstanding ovation from Nigerian masses but sounds like there is a turn around of events as Keshi reconsiders bowing out from his position having met with the sports minister earlier this morning. Below is a press statement from Stephen Keshi.

My attention has been drawn to reports in the media that I have resigned my appointment as the Head Coach of Super Eagles of Nigeria.
While I have had cause to express my displeasure over some issues that happened in the course of our participation in the AFCON 2013, which my team won by the grace of God, especially concerning my relationship with the Nigerian Football Federation, I have since had opportunity to discuss the various issues with all concerned. I am therefore pleased to say that I have reconsidered my position and have decided to continue with my job.
I want to thank the Honourable Minister of Sports, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, for his swift and kind intervention.

AFCON 2013: From Nigerian Super Eagles With Love | Champions Of The African Cup Of Nations 2013

Still basking in the euphoria of the triumphant victory of the Super Eagles of of Nigera- Last night was a memorable one, one suggestive of the the fact that the Super Eagles have left another landmark in the annals of history.

I remember watching the match yesterday, i'd almost written Nigeria off as pressure mounted on them by Burkina Faso but thankful i was on hearing the last additional four minutes knowing our boys will utilize every bit of it. The Super Eagles of Nigeria having secured a two AFCON titles before, one in 1980 and the other in 1994. This go a long way to indicate we are the champions and heartland of Africa. Victor Moses no doubt constituted a menace and always remained a threat to any team with his tremendous pace and superb energy with good passes.

Brimming with confidence we can say coach Stephen Keshi made the right choices of Victor Moses and Emenike for in eventuality their persistence paid off lifting the AFCON cup 2013 thereby securing the title for the third time in history.

We found our rhythm  we danced to the tune, we are #TeamNigeria, we are #Certified.

EXCERPTS: I'll Run Aso Rock From My Farm – Obasanjo
After Olusegun Obasanjo failed to secure a third term in office, he boasted that 2007 and 2011 would be a “transition period”, as he would run the affairs of the country from his Ota Farm, irrespective of the fact that there would be a sitting president.
This has been revealed in a recently published memoir of an Obasanjo confidant and former minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Malam Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai, entitled, “”.
The book recounts that though former president Obasanjo had singlehandedly ensured that the late Umaru Musa Yar’Adua succeeded him in 2007, he nevertheless planned to administer the country from his Ota Farm. He described the 2007-2011 period as a transition because all his pointsmen, including the “economic team” would remain in office.
El-Rufai recalls the former president telling him thus: “Well, nothing will change, you know. I will be in Ota but we will be running things. Everything will remain the same, you know. You will remain in the government, the economic team will remain. Nothing will change. Only I will move to Ota and Yar’Adua will be here but we will be running things.” MORE AFTER THE CUT……..

National Hospital or National MORGUE?

By Lady Inspirologos
12 my hall of fame
"Stumbling across this peice, i fought hard to contain my laughter as i laid in the National Hospital (Abuja) my sugery which BTW was a success" Please raed and find out why i had to share.
I requested and was granted discharge yesterday from the female medical ward of national hospital. When I was at the ward entrance preparing to leave a lady walked up to me and said she had lost her mother and was now leaving, and that the mother died because the nurses "did not bring oxygen on time!" I have no reason to doubt her because my own experience was the worst admission experience I have ever had (and as a sickle cell survivor over age 30, who has been hospitalized in several countries on four continents, that's saying a lot!) I decided since my blood transfusion was completed, other discomforts aside I had better leave while I can still walk unassisted!
Here's a little advice from me to anyone going on admission at the National Hospital, Abuja, Nigeria:
National Hospital Admission Requirements by Lady I.:
Kindly take the following or be ready to do without:
1. Bed - (I was kept in a chair at the entrance the emergency area receiving I.V. Fluids (drips) for 6 hours waiting for a bed space, meanwhile a member of staff on admission had a 2-bed room all to herself).
2. Pillows - as many as required
3. Blankets (take two or three, some to place upon the lumpy, torn, poor-excuse for a mattress and on to cover yourself)
4. Fan - the A.C. may not be working.
5. Hand fans - the sockets in which to plug an electric fan may not be working
6. A. C. Remote - there is only one for the entire floor, so you will have to go to the nurses station to borrow it every time u need to regulate to A.C.
